Gosh, that’s tough. Tolkien is a classic, but I also loved Tamora Pierce as a child.

I don’t have a favourite writer as such, there are too many to choose from. But I do admit to lots of fond memories of Ray Bradbury’s books.
Jonathan Kellerman, I love his books though they inspire me to become a detective instead of a writer.
